Controversial winger Chris Walker was sacked by the Gold Coast Titans before being reinstated once the club learned of his anxiety disorder and dependency on alcohol. The former Queenslander Origin flyer was axed following a drunken altercation at Surfers Paradise nightclub Melbas at Easter, only to be given a final lifeline by the new NRL franchise after a medical report on his condition. The Titans reversed their decision, instead booking the troubled star into an eight-week rehabilitation program and docking him 25 per cent of his salary. Walker has been buoyed by support from fellow NRL players struggling with similar problems. Walker will play for Queensland Cup side Ipswich while he undergoes rehab. read more
