Saturday, March 31st, 2007Women who are at high risk for breast cancer should be screened with MRIs in addition to mammograms, according to new guidelines from the American Cancer Society. Their study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that more than three percent of new breast cancer patients had cancer in the other breast that standard mammograms and physical examination missed. Liberal arts colleges reported a higher proportion of students using mental health services (average of 23 percent of students) than at national universities (13 percent). Liberal arts colleges have proportionally more counselors on staff than national universities do, but because liberal arts students use counseling services so much more often, the actual availability of counselors is disproportionately lower than at national universities. read more
