Williams failed a drug test — yes, another one, it was reported Friday — to at least delay and more likely severely jeopardize him ever returning to the NFL or resuming his once-bright Miami Dolphins career. It doesn’t mean Williams is stupid, though, or selfish, or a drug addict, or any other form of derision a frustrated, out-of-patience Dolfan might be forgiven for saying or feeling today. Williams smoked pot and got caught, testing positive in a league-administered drug test in April, because he meant to, at least subconsciously. Williams has been clinically diagnosed as suffering from social anxiety disorder, and marijuana had long been his medication against that particular inwardly corrosive stress. Williams is effectively finished as a Dolphin, and probably as a football player, and that will qualify as a shame to plenty of people, and understandably. read more
