FORGET an NRL return – controversial Gold Coast Titans winger Chris Walker is on track to run out at Suncorp Stadium on Origin III night. The former Queensland Origin flyer has been named in the Queensland Country team after just four games for Titans feeder club Ipswich. After the City-Country clash in Brisbane on June 23, a Queensland Residents team will be named to tackle NSW as the Origin III curtain raiser in Brisbane on July 4. Walker is expected to be available for the Titans’ June 23 NRL clash against Newcastle Knights at Carrara Stadium after completing an eight-week rehabilitation program as part of his fight against anxiety disorder and alcohol problems. Walker has helped last year’s wooden spooner Ipswich race into the Queensland Cup top three. Walker was fined 25 per cent of his contract and had strict conditions imposed including an eight-week suspension from Titans training and a ban on alcohol and gambling. read more
